About Claire

Claire McOuat is an associate at Velletta Pedersen Christie specializing in family law, with some wills and estates work. She began her undergraduate studies at McGill before transferring to the University of British Columbia for a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy focused on South Asian history and philosophy, then earned her law degree from the University of Victoria in 2023. She articled at The Law Centre, the university's free legal clinic, providing full representation in criminal defence, employment, family, human rights, wills and estates, and small claims matters, and later became the clinic's Supervising Family Lawyer, managing its family law caseload and supervising 14 new law students each term. She's appeared in BC Provincial and Supreme Court and before the BC Human Rights Tribunal and Residential Tenancy Board, and sits on the board of Family Services of Greater Victoria.
