Bankruptcy & Insolvency
Civil Litigation & Dispute ResolutionCatherine's files cover a lot of ground: investigations into complex fraud, lawsuits alleging lender liability, applications for oppression remedies, disputes tied to construction and commercial tenancies, environmental claims, workplace-related issues, and a large number of bankruptcy, receivership, and insolvency filings. She is well versed in bankruptcy and insolvency law, having acted for debtors, receivers, bankruptcy trustees, and both secured and unsecured creditors under statutes such as the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, with other firms often turning to her for guidance on insolvency questions. In the early 2000s she served as counsel to the bankruptcy trustee for Dylex Limited, leading a forensic investigation that recovered tens of millions for the company's unsecured creditors. She has appeared before all levels of Ontario courts and has sat for years on the Commercial List Users Committee. Clients value her direct, no-nonsense approach along with her reputation for integrity and strong advocacy skills.
