About Alec
Alec Angle is a senior associate whose broad practice touches complex commercial matters, class action defence, securities litigation and insolvency work. Fluent in French, he frequently represents clients across both Ontario and Quebec. His clients include financial institutions along with manufacturers, suppliers and software companies, and he has handled commercial disputes and class actions spanning banking, securities, consumer products and product liability matters. He has significant experience with securities litigation and investigations, representing investment dealers, public issuers and financial institutions that face shareholder disputes or regulatory scrutiny, and he advises on related compliance matters. His insolvency practice sees him represent both debtors and creditors in contested restructurings under the CCAA, in receiverships, and in distressed asset sales, often where restructurings intersect with class action proceedings. Before Torys, he clerked for judges at the Court of Appeal for Ontario and worked at a Toronto firm focused on class actions. He is professionally active with the Ontario Bar Association and The Advocates' Society, and also holds membership in Ontario's Association of French Speaking Jurists.
