About Brendan

Brendan Bachand focuses on Indigenous rights and treaty implementation, holding that reconciliation between Indigenous peoples and Canadian governments should come first, through honouring existing treaty commitments and negotiating agreements that let Indigenous governments chart their own path forward. That view holds that Indigenous nations retain inherent jurisdiction over their lands, resources and internal affairs, something Brendan works to see recognized across every level of government. Brendan earned a BA from Dalhousie University and a JD from the Robson Hall Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba, and is admitted to practice in British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
