About Bill

Bill Mayo is counsel at Aitken Klee, where he advises on the full range of intellectual property matters, from strategic counselling and litigation to trademark opposition proceedings and opinions on clearance and validity of marks. He has significant experience advising pharmaceutical companies on intellectual property and regulatory issues, including matters under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. Bill is a registered Canadian trademark agent and a past president of AIPPI Canada. He worked on Sanofi-Aventis Inc. v. Novopharm Ltd. (2007 FCA 163), which Managing Intellectual Property magazine named the Canadian IP Case of the Year. Before joining Aitken Klee in 2014, he worked in intellectual property law at firms in Toronto and Ottawa, and served as in-house IP counsel at Newbridge Networks.
