About Ben Grondin

Commercial, regulatory and dispute resolution work fills Ben Grondin's days as an associate with Gowling WLG in Toronto, where Ben belongs to the Advocacy Department. Called to the Ontario bar in 2025, Ben can work with clients in English or French. Ben's writing for the firm follows new rulings and rule changes, from securities and whistleblower decisions to class action certification and Ontario's civil procedure rules.

Business came before law. While studying commerce at Dalhousie University, Ben worked in private accounting, corporate finance and credit risk management, and wrote about business ethics for the Dalhousie Business Review. The commerce degree, earned in 2021, carried a minor in philosophy, and a JD from the University of Toronto followed in 2024.

Advocacy took up much of Ben's time in law school. As an executive of the Moot Court Committee, Ben coached and organized moots as well as competing in a number of them, picking up recognition for oral argument and for written work. Ben was one of the committee's two co-chief justices for the 2023 Grand Moot, held on October 5, 2023, before a panel that included Justice Nicholas Kasirer of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Ben's hometown is Calgary, and university life also meant a lot of time in goal. Ben kept net for three seasons with the Dalhousie Tigers, earning AUS first team all-star honours in 2018 and 2019, then played for the Varsity Blues while studying law at U of T and was named an OUA central division all-star in 2021.
