About Basia

Basia Dzierzanowska is a Board Member and partner in McInnes Cooper's Halifax office, advising public and private companies on corporate finance and securities law, including public offerings, private placements, and mergers and acquisitions. She leads the firm's ESG Working Group and advises boards of directors on corporate governance, directors' duties, D&O insurance and climate-related disclosure. In 2007 she was seconded to the Nova Scotia Securities Commission as Staff Solicitor, and she has significant experience representing the Province of Nova Scotia in offshore oil and gas revenue-sharing negotiations. Basia earned her LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 2000 and an Osgoode Certificate in Mining Law in 2013. She was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2001 and is a past chair of the Nova Scotia Securities Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association.
