About Ayse

Ayse Gauthier is a senior lawyer at DWF's Montréal office, focusing on cybersecurity, privacy and artificial intelligence law. Gauthier has extensive experience acting as a breach coach, advising on cyber insurance coverage, and managing hundreds of privacy and cybersecurity incidents, including several privacy class actions, on behalf of major cyber insurers. Gauthier advises clients on their obligations under Quebec and Canadian privacy legislation and assists with privacy impact assessments and artificial intelligence governance. Before joining DWF, Gauthier practised for many years at a global law firm, building extensive experience in multi-jurisdictional data breach matters and coordinating regulatory notifications across several countries. Gauthier has also worked in litigation, e-discovery and legal research at the Federal Court of Appeal and the Quebec Court of Appeal. Gauthier is recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada for privacy and data security law and technology law, and speaks and writes frequently on privacy, cybersecurity and AI matters. Gauthier was called to the Barreau du Québec in 2008 and to the Barreau of Ontario in 2012.
