About Anne-Julie

Anne-Julie Asselin is a lawyer and partner at Trudel Johnston & Lespérance (TJL), focusing on environmental class actions. Asselin earned a bachelor's degree in public affairs and international relations in 2011, then completed a joint LL.M./J.D. program in 2014, writing on class actions in environmental law in Quebec and other provinces. Asselin clerked for a year at the Supreme Court of Canada, in the chambers of the Honourable Richard Wagner, before joining TJL in October 2015. Asselin has represented citizen groups affected by industrial pollution, including in the Canadian Malartic gold mine and Anacolor paint factory files, and has brought proceedings on behalf of environmental groups to protect the woodland caribou and copper redhorse. Asselin has served on the board of the Centre québécois du droit de l'environnement since 2016 and as its vice-president since 2019, and currently represents nine women ("Les Courageuses") suing Gilbert Rozon over sexual assault and harassment allegations. Asselin became a partner at the firm in January 2023.
