About Lex

Lex Gill is a lawyer and partner at Trudel Johnston & Lespérance (TJL), focusing on appellate litigation and public interest cases, particularly constitutional law and state liability. Gill joined the firm in 2019 after clerking for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, the Honourable Richard Wagner. Gill writes and speaks publicly on the impact of new technologies on civil rights and liberties, and teaches at McGill University's Faculty of Law, having taught Law and Poverty, Technology and the Charter, and Disobedience and the Rule of Law. Before articling at the Supreme Court, Gill worked with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, the Citizen Lab, and the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic. Gill holds a Bachelor of Civil Law and an LL.B. from McGill University and is a member of both the Quebec and Ontario bars.
