About Anna Ohanyan

Anna Ohanyan works on both sides of major infrastructure deals, advising the public authorities that procure projects as well as the private partners that take them on. Anna is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office and part of the firm's Infrastructure and Construction Group, handling large-scale projects in Canada and the United States from the first stage to the last. Clients can work with Anna in English, Russian or Armenian.

Public service came first. Anna's early legal career was in Eastern Europe, with a specialty in public law and governance and a particular focus on how public policy is developed, reviewed and implemented. In Armenia, that meant two years (2013 to 2015) as a legal expert and executive assistant to a Member of Parliament, followed by a year as Adviser to the Minister of Justice (2015 to 2016).

Canada came next. Anna earned a JD at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2020, was called to the Ontario bar in 2021 and spent 2021 to 2022 as an associate in infrastructure and project finance at DLA Piper (Canada) LLP. At Gowling WLG, Anna sat on the teams that worked on two hospital projects that reached financial close in February 2024, advising Infrastructure Ontario and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health on the CAMH Phase 1D Redevelopment, and Infrastructure Ontario and Trillium Health Partners on the future Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre in Etobicoke.

Anna is a first-generation immigrant, and that path shapes how Anna approaches collaboration, problem solving and change. Anna now sits on the Canadian Future Leaders Committee of IPFA, the global association for organizations in infrastructure and energy financing, and wants to see infrastructure grow into a more collaborative, innovative and sustainable sector.
