About Maria
Maria Ruberto heads Pallett Valo's Construction Practice and focuses on resolving disputes in the construction industry for owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and sureties. She regularly appears before Ontario courts on motions, applications, and trials, and represents clients in mediation, adjudication, and arbitration. As a certified specialist in construction law, she advises on lien claims, breach of trust, performance and labour bonds, and contract disputes, and has served as carriage counsel for multiple subcontractor lien claimants in complex litigation. Maria is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and was named Lawyer of the Year for Construction Law in 2023 by Best Lawyers in Canada. She holds a BA with honours from York University and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa, and was called to the Ontario bar in 2005.
