Alexander Demner is a partner in the firm's Vancouver office, practicing in several areas of taxation including estate planning, pre-sale and divestiture structuring, owner-manager remuneration, taxpayer representation, and tax litigation. He advises on and implements reorganizations for individuals, trusts, and private and public corporations in both domestic and international contexts, and has resolved a number of complex tax disputes. He has also built particular expertise in the Canadian taxation of cryptocurrency, blockchain, and other digital assets, and speaks and writes frequently on tax topics. Alexander is a Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and a Full Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, holding the TEP designation. He holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees with distinction from the University of Calgary, in International Relations and Political Science, and earned his J.D. from Queen's University, where he graduated on the Dean's Honour List.
