About Alexei

Alexei Paish is an associate in the Vancouver office of Thorsteinssons LLP, where he maintains a broad tax practice focused on achieving tax efficiency for his clients. His advisory work centers on estate planning and reorganizing closely held corporations, and he regularly advises charities and non-profits on structured donations, registration, and compliance. He also counsels clients on cross-border tax planning tied to immigration and emigration, executive compensation, and the taxation of settlements, and he has represented taxpayers before the Tax Court of Canada. Before joining Thorsteinssons, Alexei clerked for the Federal Court of Appeal and practiced at a national firm. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria, and he previously worked as a freelance percussionist with orchestras including the Victoria Symphony. Outside the office, he coaches a moot team at the Allard School of Law and continues to perform music.
