About Yan
Yan Gao maintains a general civil litigation practice and has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, with prior experience articling at a Vancouver litigation boutique and a summer position with the Workers' Compensation Board of Alberta. She was an editor of the Alberta Law Review, a research assistant for two professors, a Student Legal Services of Edmonton volunteer, a competitor in the Donald G.H. Bowman National Tax Moot, and part of the winning team (with top factums) at the Davies Annual Corporate/Securities Law Moot. She holds a JD with distinction from the University of Alberta (2021) and a BA (Hons.) from Queen's University (2017), and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2022. She received the Dean Wilbur Bowker Prize in Tort Law and the Dr. Alexander Smith, QC Prize for highest standing in Contracts.
