About James

James R. Brown is a partner in Osler's Corporate Group and co-chair of the Mining Group, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, and general corporate matters. He has represented issuers and underwriters in public offerings, including IPOs, shelf and short-form financings, bought deals, global private placements and transactions involving inter-listed companies. James also advises public and private corporations on regulatory compliance, corporate governance and continuous disclosure obligations, including securities compliance for TSX- and TSXV-listed issuers under mineral project disclosure rules. He previously sat on the Canadian Securities Administrators' Mining Technical Advisory and Monitoring Committee and was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission during his articles and to Goldman Sachs' Natural Resources group in 2011. In 2018, James was named a Lexpert Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40.
