About Wayne A. Kerrick

Wayne A. Kerrick is a partner at Gowling WLG in Ottawa whose work sits where property, lending and building meet. Kerrick handles real estate deals, secured loans and construction law, and has spent a good deal of time on construction financing and on reading and interpreting construction contracts. Buyers, sellers, borrowers and lenders have all relied on that experience in purchases, sales and financings of every size.

The client list runs from local Ottawa businesses building or buying their own facilities to large multinationals acquiring and financing land across Ontario and Canada. Kerrick has acted for financial institutions on medium and large loans secured by office, retail, industrial and commercial properties, and for foreign governments buying and selling embassies. One standout file: the land assembly, development and construction of JDS Uniphase's 910,000 square foot campus at 3000 Merivale Road, followed later by the sale of that same facility.

Called to the Ontario bar in 1989, Kerrick began committee work in the associate years, on the marketing committee, which led to a spell on the compensation committee and four years heading the business law department. From 2008 to 2011, Kerrick was managing partner of the Ottawa office. Best Lawyers has recognized Kerrick since 2013, and the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada lists Kerrick for Real Estate Law.
