About Warda
Warda Shazadi Meighen is a partner practising immigration and refugee law. She has appeared before courts and tribunals at various levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and has taught at Ontario law schools for nearly a decade, including the past seven years at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law. She began her career as a corporate lawyer at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York and later contributed to prosecutions tied to the Rwandan genocide at the United Nations Tribunal for Rwanda. She serves as Vice President of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers and as a member of the World Refugee Migration Council, and she has appeared as an expert before Parliamentary and Senate committees on refugee and immigration issues. Warda is called to the bars of Ontario and New York and speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. She holds a J.D. and B.A.H. from the University of Toronto and an MSc from the University of Oxford.
