About Allan

Allan Rock is a lawyer at Landings LLP with over four decades of experience spanning litigation, public service, and international affairs. He practised civil, administrative, and commercial litigation in Toronto for two decades before entering politics, and later served as Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario. As a member of Parliament, he held cabinet posts under Prime Minister Jean Chrétien including Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Minister of Health, and Minister of Industry. In 2003 he became Canada's Ambassador to the United Nations, where he championed adoption of the Responsibility to Protect doctrine at the 2005 World Summit. He later served as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa from 2008 to 2016 and remains President Emeritus there. He holds law degrees from the University of Ottawa and is a member of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.
