W. Laurence Scott, K.C., is Associate Counsel at Baker Newby LLP practising family law, family law mediation and arbitration, and parenting coordination. He earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in history and political science from the University of Toronto in 1983 and a Master of Arts in 1985, then a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor in 1988. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in November 1990 and the Bar of Nova Scotia in October 1991, before being called to the Bar of British Columbia in August 1993. He opened his own firm, Scott & Company, in Kamloops in 2000, later relocating his practice to New Westminster's Quay Law Centre in 2004, and joined Baker Newby as Associate Counsel in 2019 when the Quay Law Centre closed. Scott has been a certified Family Law Mediator since 2002 and is also a certified Family Law Arbitrator and Parenting Coordinator; he was appointed Queen's Counsel in December 2016 and is a Governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia.
