About W.

David Rankin represents industrial and government clients in public and private law disputes, including appeals, administrative and constitutional litigation, class actions, wrongful dismissal claims and other general civil matters. David has argued cases at every level of court across multiple jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal. David is a co-author of Sopinka, Gelowitz and Rankin on the Conduct of an Appeal, a leading reference work for appellate counsel and judges, and teaches an administrative law remedies course at Osgoode Hall Law School. David joined Osler's disputes practice in 2012 after clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Morris J. Fish. David holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, where he received the W.P.M. Kennedy silver medal, and a business administration degree with distinction from Acadia University. David first joined Osler as a summer student in 2008 and returned in 2010 and 2011 to article in the firm's Calgary office.
