About Viona M. Duncan

Viona M. Duncan is a deal lawyer. A partner in Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region office, Duncan spends most days on transactions: buying and selling businesses, and raising debt and equity capital for clients based in Canada, the U.S. and further afield.

Those clients run the gamut from early-stage startups to well-established companies, and they aren't all in tech. Traditional businesses sit alongside technology firms on the client list. Beyond M&A, Duncan often handles the commercial agreements a tech business lives on, such as licences, distribution deals, joint ventures and strategic alliances. Within the firm, Duncan has also served as a co-chair of its global Tech Sector Group, a role that's now in the past.
