About Tyler
Tyler S. Shandro is a former Cabinet Minister in the Government of Alberta whose practice at Wilson Laycraft focuses on public law, including municipal, environmental, Indigenous, and development law, along with pharmaceutical policy consulting and advice to clients in the health care sector. As Minister of Health, he oversaw Alberta's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and led the redesign of the continuing care sector; as Solicitor General, he modernized the Police Act and signed an agreement with the Siksika Nation establishing a self-administered police service; and as Justice Minister, he renamed the Provincial Court to the Alberta Court of Justice and expanded its jurisdiction. Tyler served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 2019 to 2023 and has sat on tribunals including the Municipal Government Board, the National Parole Board, and the Calgary Police Commission. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary in 2004 and his Bachelor of Arts from the same school in 2000, was called to the Alberta bar in 2005, and was appointed King's Counsel in 2020.
