About Tony
Tony DeMarinis is a partner at Torys and chair of the firm's Canadian Corporate Restructuring and Advisory Practice, with decades of experience in Canadian and cross-border restructurings and insolvencies. He advises a broad client base on corporate financial restructurings, including negotiated workouts, recapitalizations, debt exchanges, refinancings and distressed acquisitions, as well as proceedings under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. His clients include public companies working to restructure debt, lending syndicates, groups of ad hoc bondholders, bridge and debtor-in-possession lenders, financial sponsors, receivers and monitors. Tony has worked across many industries, including energy, mining, retail, real estate and financial services. He is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada, the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute, and has guest lectured on restructurings at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School.
