About Sydney
Sydney Smith is an associate at Willms & Shier whose practice focuses on environmental law and litigation, Indigenous law and natural resources law. Drawing on a background in environmental science, she supports Indigenous communities, individuals, corporations and boards on a range of matters. Sydney has appealed Orders from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks to the Ontario Land Tribunal, prosecuted and defended contaminated land lawsuits before Ontario's courts, assisted clients with regulatory approvals, and provided legal advice to First Nations communities and northern co-management boards. She earned her J.D. from the University of Ottawa in 2022 and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from the University of Winnipeg in 2018, and she was called to the bars of Ontario, Yukon and the Northwest Territories between 2023 and 2024.
