Indigenous LawMichael Osland practises corporate and commercial law, commercial and residential real estate, secured lending, and Indigenous law, including land claims implementation. He has more than 20 years of experience in Indigenous economic development, including negotiating impact benefit agreements, and has particular knowledge of Nunavut's land administration system. He represents Inuit associations and firms, banks and lending institutions, construction and real estate developers, and non-profit and private business clients across the North. Osland earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Ottawa in 1984 and his law degree from the same university in 1987, graduating cum laude. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1989, the Northwest Territories bar in 1995, and the Nunavut bar in 1999.
