About Sumeya

Sumeya Mulla joined the firm in June 2016 and brings a background in government, the courts, and international law to her cases. She earned her LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law in 2015 and her law degree from the University of Windsor in 2012. While at NYU she worked as a research scholar contributing to a text on the impact of international organizations on international law, and she assisted on research related to the World Health Organization during the Ebola outbreak. Sumeya clerked for judges of the Federal Court of Canada in Ottawa, gaining exposure to immigration, refugee, and constitutional matters, and also clerked for judges of the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories on criminal and civil files. She now appears regularly before the Federal Court of Canada on judicial review applications and handles a range of immigration and refugee matters, including admissibility, refugee claims, humanitarian and compassionate applications, and sponsorships.
