About Simon

Simon Walter practises family law as a lawyer, mediator, and Hear the Child reporter, and was called to the bar in 2017. As a lawyer, he encourages clients to pursue cost-effective, efficient settlements, and as a mediator he helps couples reach agreements outside of court. In his Hear the Child reporting work, he interviews children to prepare reports on their views for matters such as parenting arrangements and relocation. He has appeared in reported decisions including Breakey v. Breakey and M.F.G. v. K.J.M. Outside the office, Simon sings with a local a cappella quartet and officiates youth and adult soccer with the Kamloops Soccer Referees Association, and he serves as a board member of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra.
