About Ali

Abdeali (Ali) Kothawala is originally from Mumbai, India, where he earned his law degree from the University of Mumbai, working for three years in a criminal defence attorney's chambers during his studies. After graduating in 2021, he practised criminal law and expanded into family law in 2022, including pro bono work involving undertrial prisoners, domestic violence victims, and child custody matters. In 2023 he moved to Canada to pursue a master's in Canadian Common Law at UBC, volunteering with the Law Students' Legal Advice Program along the way. At Cates Ford Soll & Epp, Ali practises criminal and family law and offers services in English and Hindi.
