About Sean

Sean Kelly is a partner and the firm's Labour & Employment Practice Group Leader, based in Halifax and called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2011 and the Ontario bar in 2023. He is a trial lawyer focused on employment litigation and representing professional regulators, has appeared before all levels of court and administrative tribunals in Nova Scotia as well as the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Divisional Court, and defends employers facing occupational health and safety investigations. His recent work includes successfully defending a national retailer in a wrongful dismissal jury trial and representing a regional media company before the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal in a case on constructive dismissal and mitigation. Kelly holds an LL.B. from Dalhousie University (2010), an M.A. from McMaster University (2006), a B.A. (honours) from Mount Allison University (2003), and a Certificate in Mental Health Law from Osgoode Hall Law School (2021).
