About Ryan
Ryan Howes handles intellectual property matters with an emphasis on commercial IP, trademarks and copyright. His litigation experience includes trademark and copyright disputes before the Trademarks Opposition Board, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal, where he has both prosecuted and defended infringement, expungement, opposition and cancellation cases and related appeals. He is training toward qualification as a Class 3 trademark agent. On the commercial side, he counsels on IP ownership, risk management, licensing structures, acquisitions, research and development, commercialization and employment-related IP matters, drafting complex agreements including for university spin-out companies. Ryan holds a JD and a BSc, both from the University of Toronto.
