Rosa Lupo is a partner in Gowling WLG's Corporate Commercial Group, working out of the Waterloo Region office. Deals sit at the centre of the practice: buying and selling businesses, raising debt and equity, licensing and distribution contracts, and real estate. Past clients include Wilfrid Laurier University and the underwriters on public offerings.

Called to the Ontario bar in 2001, Lupo brings a combined LLB/MBA from the University of Windsor to the table. M&A files have been both domestic and cross-border, with clients doing business in the U.S., Europe and China. On the financing side, the work has covered credit facilities, venture capital rounds and convertible debt, and Lupo acts for lenders as well as borrowers on secured commercial financings.

Real estate is a big part of the picture. Matters include acting for Minto Group on the York Downs Redevelopment, a master-planned community with more than 500 homes, and for Mercedes Corp. when it sold the St. Jacobs Farmers' Market and three nearby retail properties. As leader of the firm's Italy Desk for Canada, Lupo also helps Canadian businesses find opportunities in Italy and works with Italian clients who want to set up here.

Outside the office, the commitment to Waterloo Region runs deep. Lupo chairs the board of Enova Energy Corporation, has served as a director of groups like K-W Counselling, Communitech and the Kitchener Soccer Club, and regularly guest lectures at Wilfrid Laurier University's Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship. Best Lawyers has recognized Lupo every year since 2024.
