About Robert
Robert Johnston practised general civil litigation and criminal law before being appointed to the bench in 2004. He now works as an arbitrator and mediator in all areas of law and is a Law Society of BC accredited family law mediator, though he's retired from the practice of law and no longer provides legal advice or representation. He was called to the bar in 1972 and became a partner at Cox Taylor in 1976. Johnston served as a Bencher of the Law Society of BC from 1986 to 1994 and later as its Treasurer, received his QC (now KC) in 1986, and was appointed to the Supreme Court of B.C. in 2004. He retired from the bench at the end of 2021 and returned to Cox Taylor in 2022.
