About Robert

Robert Purdy, KC, has practised civil litigation and insurance law for more than 45 years, appearing at all levels of court in Nova Scotia and before the Supreme Court of Canada in high-profile civil and criminal matters, including numerous jury trials. He has served as both mediator and arbitrator in disputes involving insurance, personal injury, and commercial matters. Purdy has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for insurance law and personal injury litigation since 2006 and was named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2018. He was appointed King's Counsel in 1995 and earned his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1976, the same year he was called to the Nova Scotia bar. He has lectured widely on personal injury and insurance law at industry and bar seminars and formerly served on the province's Q.C. Appointments Advisory Committee.
