Kirshblum is a partner at Lenczner Slaght who co-heads the firm's Professional Liability and Regulation group, concentrating on the defence of physicians in both civil litigation and regulatory matters. She has broadened her work to include mediation, having completed a Certificate in Mediation through Harvard University's Program on Negotiation in 2022, and regularly advises employers and employees on workplace disputes. Risa was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996 after earning her LLB from Western in 1994 and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1989. Her cases include defending physicians in medical negligence and Human Rights Tribunal proceedings, and she has acted for RBC Dominion Securities in a dispute over departing investment advisors that reached the Supreme Court of Canada. She frequently presents continuing education programs for the Law Society of Ontario, The Advocates' Society, and medical organizations.
