About Philip
Philip Taylor is Managing Partner of Chaitons LLP and a member of its Executive Committee. With more than 30 years of experience, he advises Schedule A banks, credit unions, and institutional lenders on structuring and closing financing transactions. His practice covers asset-based, secured and unsecured, mezzanine, subordinated, and distressed financings, as well as real estate and construction financings, debt restructurings, and security enforcement, often in mid-market and cross-border deals. Philip is listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada for 2025 and 2026 and is repeatedly ranked as a Leading Lawyer in Asset-Based Lending by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory. He speaks frequently to clients and industry groups on priority agreements, security-taking, and financing structures. Philip earned his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1995 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1997. Outside the firm, he is a former President of the Alpine Ski Club.
