About Phil
Phil Lalonde was senior counsel at Osuji & Smith Lawyers and is now retired after more than 40 years of general litigation experience. Phil earned a law degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Saskatchewan, articling with then-Chief Justice Bora Laskin of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1979 to 1980. Phil was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981 and the Alberta Bar in 1988, and appeared before courts in Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before professional regulatory bodies. Phil's practice covered contracts, corporate and commercial litigation, securities litigation, bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring, directors' and officers' liability, professional negligence litigation and professional disciplinary matters, and Phil also taught law at the University of Toronto and the University of Calgary.
