About Peter
Peter Griffin, K.C., is counsel and one of the five founding partners of Lenczner Slaght, called to the Ontario bar in 1980 after earning his BA from Carleton and LLB from Queen's. His practice covers corporate commercial disputes, class actions, securities matters, insolvency, and professional and director liability claims, and he has argued before every court in Ontario and the common-law provinces as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. Peter was awarded the Law Society Medal in 2021 for his advocacy and mentorship, and in 2024 he received The Advocates' Society Medal, its highest honour, for leadership within the profession. He has deep experience in cross-border litigation touching class proceedings and insolvency, and boards regularly seek his advice on their obligations. Peter frequently acts in arbitration, both as counsel and arbitrator, and is often called on as an expert speaker on shareholder disputes and professional liability. He is a past President of The Advocates' Society and a Fellow, and former Ontario chair, of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
