About Pamela

Pamela Smith has practised exclusively in criminal law since her call to the bar in 1981. She has always been willing to take Legal Aid cases, believing the system depends on everyone having access to experienced counsel, and has carried on her practice as senior partner in relatively small firms of criminal lawyers. She attends the Federation of Law Societies' National Criminal Law Program every year to stay current on developments in the law. While she prefers matters in the Provincial Court of Manitoba, she has appeared at all levels of court including the Court of Queen's Bench, the Manitoba Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a past board member of Big Sisters of Winnipeg, St. John's Ravenscourt School, the St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation, and the Manitoba Club.
