About Nicholas
Nicholas Daube joined Woodward & Company as Senior Counsel in 2025, having been a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2007. His practice areas include Aboriginal and treaty rights, Aboriginal title, commercial litigation, governance support, natural resources, specific claims, and treaty negotiation and implementation, among 18 listed practice areas. Before joining the firm, he maintained a regulatory advocacy and risk advisory practice focused on energy and climate change on behalf of First Nations, regularly appearing before the Ontario Energy Board on Indigenous participation in energy projects, and helped negotiate the establishment of a path-breaking Indigenous Working Group on energy issues. He served as senior advisor to provincial and federal cabinet ministers, played key roles implementing Ontario's carbon pricing regime, and supported Ontario's premier during NAFTA negotiations, and practiced litigation at leading Toronto firms before various court levels. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in political studies from Queen's University, a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, where he graduated as a James Kent Scholar (highest honours) in 2008.
