About Namya Tandon

Insolvency and restructuring work, across a broad mix of matters, is the centre of Namya Tandon's practice. Tandon is a Toronto-based associate at Gowling WLG, sits in the firm's Financial Services Group, and was called to the Ontario bar in 2025.

At Western Law, Tandon was a research assistant to Professor Richard H. McLaren, O.C., on topics that included insolvency and restructuring and secured transactions, along with sports law and alternative dispute resolution. Tandon also edited the Western Journal of Legal Studies, first as managing editor for 2022 to 2023 and then as editor-in-chief, and wrote a case comment for it on the Supreme Court of Canada's ruling in R v Ramelson, which looked at how entrapment applies in virtual spaces.

In 2025, Tandon co-wrote a piece with Gowling WLG colleagues on an Ontario decision that refused a secured creditor's application for a receiver because of concerns about the creditor's bad faith. Before law school came an honours BA from McMaster University, earned summa cum laude, with summers spent working at two Toronto law firms, one of them international. Tandon speaks English and Hindi.
