About Mitchell

Mitchell Coulter is a criminal defence lawyer at Edward H. Royle & Partners who represents clients through every stage of the criminal process, from bail hearings to trial, in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. He built early courtroom experience through his law school's legal clinic, running quasi-criminal and criminal pre-trials, trials, and appeals, and completed a placement with a Toronto criminal defence and appeal firm in his final year. Before joining the firm as an associate, he spent two summers there learning from its team. Mitchell focuses much of his practice on defending vulnerable clients, including youth, people with mental health challenges, and those dealing with substance use issues. He holds an Honours BA from Trent University and a JD from Lakehead University.
