About Michelle
Michelle Nelles is counsel focusing on intellectual property, with particular strength in strategic trademark counsel for Canadian and multinational companies managing large domestic and foreign trademark portfolios. She guides in-house counsel on cost-effective prosecution, enforcement, and opposition strategies, and provides clearance opinions and advice across trademark, patent, industrial design, and copyright matters in industries ranging from consumer goods and food to chemicals and financial services. Michelle also advises on domain name disputes, including proceedings under ICANN's UDRP and the CIRA policy, and is a registered Canadian patent and trademark agent. She currently chairs INTA's Non-Traditional Marks Committee after serving on numerous INTA committees over two decades, and has lectured on IP law at the University of Toronto, Osgoode Hall, and York University.
