About Michael
Michael is a partner whose practice combines family law with the defence of professional negligence claims brought against family law lawyers, acting as preferred counsel for the profession's insurer, LawPRO. He handles complex parenting and financial disputes involving appeals, inter-jurisdictional issues, child abduction, stock options, private businesses, pensions, and bankruptcy, appearing at all levels of court including the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He was named Best Lawyers' 2023 Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in Toronto. Michael is an associate editor of the Reports of Family Law and co-writes a weekly family law newsletter, and he co-chairs the Superior Court of Justice's Dispute Resolution Officer program in Toronto. He sits on the board of the Ontario chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Before entering practice, he clerked for judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, an experience he says shaped how he approaches litigation strategy today.
