About Michael

Michael Matwichuk is an associate in Osler's Disputes group, working on complex corporate, commercial, construction, and energy disputes. He has appeared before the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Alberta Court of King's Bench, and the Alberta Court of Justice, and has handled both domestic and international arbitration matters. Before joining Osler, Matwichuk was part of the litigation team at another Canadian law firm and clerked for the Federal Court of Appeal, where he gained exposure to tax, environmental, and Indigenous consultation disputes along with judicial review of government decisions. He earned a JD with distinction from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Mathematics with distinction in Mathematical Physics from the University of Waterloo. Matwichuk volunteers with Pro Bono Law Alberta, helping self-represented individuals through its Amicus and Civil Claims Duty Counsel programs.
