About Michael J. Lamb

Michael J. Lamb's practice at Cohen Highley covers real estate law, wills and estates, and corporate commercial matters, and Michael has handled litigation as well. Clients get a lawyer who's been teaching real estate law to Western University's law students since 1992, as an Adjunct Professor, a post Michael still holds.

Michael came to law after some years working as an assistant to lawyers in England and Toronto and finally in London, Ontario. A Western law degree followed in 1985, then the call to the Ontario bar in 1986. Most of the years since were spent in London as a sole practitioner, until Michael joined Cohen Highley as Counsel in 2023. Along the way, Michael sat on the original working group that set up the Law Society's Real Estate Specialist Committee and later served two years as its Vice Chair.

Helping people on their way into the profession is a big part of Michael's working life. Besides the Western post, which the university marked in 2017 when Michael reached 25 years of service to its law faculty, there were 20 years as an instructor in the Law Society of Upper Canada's Bar Admission Course, and Michael has twice been nominated for teaching awards. A short stint teaching the real estate section of Westervelt College's Legal Administration course in London is part of the record too, as is a teaching and advisory membership in Western's graduate and postdoctoral studies.

Away from the office, Michael plays golf, values time with family, and puts real energy into elder abuse awareness and education. That cause has meant chairing Elder Abuse London/Middlesex in 2022, and it earned Michael the London Police Service's Brian Young Award in 2014.
