About Michael Blois

Michael Blois is a partner at Diamond & Diamond Lawyers, and personal injury is the core of Michael's practice. Serious car crashes and slip and fall claims sit at the heart of the work, alongside cases for victims of assault. Most clients live in and around Barrie, but files take Michael all over Ontario, and Michael has appeared in every level of the province's courts, the Court of Appeal among them.

Law was a second career. Michael enlisted at 17 and spent 11 years in uniform, serving with the Royal Canadian Regiment from 2000 until 2011 and retiring as a master corporal. Those years took in three overseas tours: Bosnia once and Afghanistan twice. On January 29, 2007, during the final Afghanistan tour, Michael was wounded, and the injuries brought the military chapter to a close with a medical release in 2011. Michael's Afghanistan service earned the General Campaign Star.

Leaving the army is what led Michael to law school. After graduating from Osgoode Hall in 2014, Michael was called to the Ontario bar in 2015 and started at Diamond and Diamond that same year, becoming a partner in 2020. Michael also handles class actions for military veterans, and by October 2024 had represented a class of Afghanistan war veterans in a suit against Veterans Affairs Canada and the government over missed policies and timelines. That month Michael spoke as a witness before the House of Commons Veterans Affairs Committee.

Michael was born in London, Ontario, and raised in Exeter. Off the clock, you'll often spot Michael at a Barrie Colts game, and Michael enjoys time with family and friends.
