About Melanie

Melanie A. Larock is a partner on leave and family law litigator at Thomson Rogers LLP, having practised exclusively in family law since 2012 after articling at the firm. Her work spans the full range of family law issues, with particular emphasis on complex financial matters and high-conflict parenting disputes, including cases involving alienation and intimate partner violence. Melanie is comfortable litigating and also skilled at reaching resolutions through negotiation and mediation, and she is well versed in how family law intersects with torts, criminal law, trusts and estates, tax, and business law. She has been named among the Best Lawyers in Canada for family law and is listed on ReferToHer. Melanie was called to the Ontario Bar in 2011 after earning her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, and holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences with Honours from McMaster University, where she twice received the Provost Honour Roll Medal. She writes the blog 'Coffee with Melanie: Recent Court of Appeal Family Law Cases' and has contributed to publications including Law Times and Lexpert.
