About Al
Al Burton is a partner whose practice centers on municipal law, environmental approvals, land use planning, and expropriation. Al regularly appears before municipal councils and tribunals such as the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Environmental Review Tribunal, and the Board of Negotiation, as well as before the courts, representing municipalities, corporations, and individuals on matters ranging from land development disputes to contaminated sites, telecommunications, municipal bylaws, and aggregate resources. Earlier on, Al spent a year serving as environmental counsel for the City of Hamilton. Al was called to the bar in 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Geography from McGill University, a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University.
