About Max

Max Bernard has practised commercial litigation for more than 50 years, focusing on practical, cost-effective solutions to complex business disputes. Early in his career he represented Quebec Inuit in litigation that led to the first modern Indigenous land claims settlement in Canada. He has acted for clients including Hydro-Quebec, Coopers & Lybrand and CGC Inc. in commercial litigation and arbitration matters, and is often called on by other law firms facing difficult files or seeking an arbitrator. He holds a B.C.L. and a B.A. from McGill University, and carries the Ad. E. (Avocat emerite) honorific from the Barreau du Quebec. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada since 2006.
